What is the accommodation register?
The kniha ubytovaných is a register that, under Act No. 404/2011 Coll. on the residence of foreigners, every accommodation provider in Slovakia must keep — regardless of whether it is a single apartment or a hotel with dozens of rooms. It records basic data about the guest and the stay: first name and surname, data from the identity document, and the date of arrival and departure.
One register, not two
Unlike the Czech Republic, where a two-track system of House Book (domovní kniha) plus Registration Book (evidenční kniha) operates as two separate documents, Slovakia keeps one single register. The accommodation provider therefore does not have to keep and reconcile two parallel records — one book serves the same purpose.
Digital or paper
The law does not prescribe a specific form of keeping it — what matters is that the record is complete, accurate, and can be produced on request during an inspection. A digital accommodation register meets this requirement and in practice is easier to inspect and less error-prone than a handwritten notebook.
