What the Slovak Foreign Police does
The Foreign Police is a specialized unit of the Police Force of the Slovak Republic responsible for foreigner affairs — including receiving reports on the stay of foreign guests, which every accommodation provider must file within 5 days of the start of the stay (calendar days, not working days). Unlike the Czech Republic, where reports are received by the online UbyPort system, Slovakia does not yet have a publicly documented automated interface — the report is filed manually through the portal.minv.sk portal, by post, or in person at the department.
Its role in inspection and enforcement
The Foreign Police does not just passively receive reports — it has the right to enter the premises of an accommodation facility to check compliance with obligations, including inspecting the accommodation register (kniha ubytovaných). Failing to meet the reporting obligation, or meeting it late, exposes the accommodation provider to a fine.
How the report is filed in practice
The procedure in detail — the deadline, the required form, and the amount of the fine — is described in a separate guide to reporting the stay of foreigners. Because Slovakia has no automated interface like the Czech UbyPort, Best Guest prepares from the guest’s verified data an XML file for import into the Slovak Ministry of the Interior e-service “Zápis do knihy ubytovaných” (entry in the accommodation register), plus the accommodation register as a PDF — the actual submission on portal.minv.sk is a step the accommodation provider does today: you upload the file in the e-service, sign it, and send it. Best Guest does not fill in the official form.
