Frequently asked questions
Does the map show every municipality in a region?
The map shows how many municipalities we track in each region and aggregate rate statistics, not a full list or an individual municipality's exact rate. Get details for a specific municipality via our free check.
How is a region's median rate calculated?
We calculate the median from every municipality we track in that region - our database is built from regularly updated municipal ordinances and other official sources. Even without individually hand-verifying every single rate, the median is statistically meaningful at this data volume.
How often is the data updated?
We continuously monitor municipal ordinances and update the corresponding record whenever a change is found. The map recomputes once a day.
Can I get the exact rate for my municipality?
Yes. Use our free municipality check and we'll send you the current rate, exemptions and filing deadlines.
